On Tuesday, November 15, 2011, Assembly members and residents of Long Beach came together for a public hearing where members of Khmer Girls in Action addressed the state of Cambodian American youth. Khmer Girls in Action speakers gave personal testimonials, raising awareness of the problems and issues facing their community such as racial profiling, the lack of economic resources, health education, and immigration.
Representing the Assembly were Mike Eng, Warren Furutani, and Bonnie Lowenthal among others.
