Students and advocates in Long Beach to host a summit to discuss effective methods to raising student achievement
What: 300 middle and high school male students are set to meet at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) for the first ever Boys and Men of Color Summit in Long Beach.
Who: Centro CHA, the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) Male Academy, Children’s Defense Fund – California, and the Long Beach Boys and Men of Color Leadership Committee.
Why: Male students from across the city will participate in a day of action developing recommendations towards improving supports, resources and opportunities for students of color in communities and schools. The goal of the summit is to empower students to graduate high school, provide them with college and career post-secondary options, and prepare them to become productive citizens in a diverse and competitive world.
