Today is election day! Voting centers are open across Long Beach for you to cast your ballot or drop off your vote by mail ballot.

If you're still looking for some information on the items on your ballot, we've got you covered for Measure RW. The measure is an effort to increase the minimum wage for hotel workers at hotels with 100 or more rooms. To understand more about the measure, we spoke with Gabriel Perez, a community organizer with Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy's (LAANE) campaign called Long Beach for a Just Economy. In this story, VoiceWaves contributor Abel Reyes (@abelreyeslb) shares some of the life story of Oum Ry, a Cambodian kickboxing legend who runs the Long Beach Khmer Kickboxing Center. The California State University Board of Trustees

The California State University Board of Trustees will be voting on a tuition increase of 6%, to be facilitated over the course of five years, at their meeting on September 13. Students and faculty have responded calling it a decision that could make higher education more inaccessible to students.
