Baseball Brings Smiles to Special Needs Children

Jun. 29, 2013 / By

Long Beach is a host to a variety of Little League Baseball Teams. But there’s one league that is bringing both youth and their families together for hope. For youth with special needs, “The Challenger” Division is open for youth who are either physically or mentally challenged.

In the video above, Voicewaves takes a look on how participating in the Challenger gives children with disabilities an opportunity to participate in their own league and make friends with others who long to learn about the art of baseball.

In this league, special needs children are evaluated on their abilities and things they can do in the game, rather than shunned away because of the things they can’t do. The video shows interviews with the coach, a grandparent and one of the players, along with a variety of clips from the game.
