45% of Long Beach residents speak a language other than English in their homes.

On August 13th, the Long Beach City Council will vote on a recently proposed Language Access Policy. However, this policy would exclude thousands of LEP or Limited English Proficient residents speaking Khmer, Tagalog and Vietnamese. For Spanish speakers, the policy does not make a substantial commitment to allow for meaningful participation in public meetings, etc. We are asking city staff and council members to revise this policy and work with community stakeholders to develop a meaningful and equitable language-access policy.

Join us before the City Council meeting at 4pm for a “Where is the love LB?,” Rally and Press Conference, as we highlight the value of the diversity in our City of Long Beach.

Stay with us as we gather in the Council Chambers for the meeting at 5pm.
