Black Women Breaking Barriers in Medicine

Nov. 15, 2016 / By

Did you know only 2 percent of all physicians are black women?

In late October, doctors, celebrities, and community members gathered for a panel and screening of the film “Black Women in Medicine” at the California Endowment in Los Angeles.

This film seeks to empower women of color in the medical field and hopes to inspire future generations interested in all career paths. “It is my hope that it encourages those who think they can’t, that they can,” said Crystal R. Emery, writer and director of “Black Women in Medicine.”
