Benyamin is a Long Beach native, growing up in North Long Beach. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 2017 and is passionate about telling stories. In his free time, you can find Benyamin singing karaoke or researching local history.
Odin, a.k.a. OdieSpice, is a music producer and student at Long Beach City College. She joined VoiceWaves in the Fall of 2018 and looks forward to future endeavors with the program!
Sarahi is a multimedia journalist from Wilmington, California. She is a graduate of Humboldt State University, where she reported for the bilingual community newspaper and served as video editor for the campus newspaper. When she’s not working, you can find her taking photos or cruising down the streets in her roller skates.
Ceferino Martirez is a photojournalist with VoiceWaves. He is a history and history education major at CSULB who joined VoiceWaves in 2018. Martirez’s work focuses on street photography and protest coverage. His work with VoiceWaves has focused on using his photography to capture community voices on issues like housing, labor, and youth rights.
Cornelia Nicholson is a recent journalism graduate from Cal State Long Beach. Ever since she can remember, Cornelia has always wanted to be a reporter. Realizing at such a young age her passion for reading and writing, she hasn't wanted to do any other career. She loves to create videos and be in front of a camera. Her favorite part of journalism is interviewing and getting a chance to hear someone's story. This Orange County native is also a big music fan. When she's not writing, editing or shooting, you probably will see her at a music festival or concert!
