Patrick is an artist, photographer and student at Long Beach Polytechnic High School.

My name is Gustavo Ortega and I am on my last semester at California State University, Long Beach. I will be majoring in Journalism, with a minor in Spanish. I was born in Mexico, but have been raised in Los Angeles since I was 10-years-old. I developed my passion for journalism when I was in community college. Growing up with two different cultures encourages me to write stories in both languages. My career goal is to be an on-air talent or reporter for radio or T.V, whether it is in news or sports.

Xochitl is a first-generation Mexican-American, a Xicana, who believes that the radical thought of a woman choosing a career over having children should not be stigmatized. She flourished from the womb of a single hardworking guerrera Mexicana who worked her hands to the bone for her daughters. For Xochitl, journalism is both a passion and powerful responsibility to inform society.

Veronica Caro was born and raised in Santa Ana, California. In 2015, she received her B.A. in Cinema and Television Arts with an emphasis in cinematography, from Cal-State Northridge. Her love for film and ambition to be a part of a production began when she attended the Orange County High School of the Arts. There, she was able to explore the foundations of film, as well as creating her own projects. Since then, she has been an active filmmaker, producing several documentaries focusing on diverse issues. She aspires to attend graduate school next year to further improve her filmmaking skills.

Desarae Gomez is a journalism student at Cal State Long Beach and is currently in her last semester.

Desarae has aspirations to work as a foreign correspondent or investigative reporter. Although to make any kind of difference with her writing and work would be fulfilling. Fun facts: she is a true crime enthusiast, dabbles in graphic design, and claims to be a bookworm but is a binge watcher at heart.

Kathleen Fontilea was born and raised in Long Beach, CA. She is a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, a national honor society in Journalism and Mass Communication. Fontilea graduated from California State University Long Beach in May 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. She is currently working as a publicist for American University of Health Sciences and volunteers as a host of a horror entertainment talk show called The Dark Lady on KBeach Radio 88.1 FM HD-3.

A Latina living in Long Beach for almost all of her life, Sandy is dually-enrolled at Renaissance High School for the Arts and Long Beach City College. She has interned with Californians for Justice and organizes with the Every Student Matters Campaign to better her community.
